Just as important as what you put in your body, what you put on your body is key to optimal health. Here are our favorite natural beauty products. Tell us yours in comments below.

Dr. Frank Lipman: This summer I got introduced to Beautycounter’s All Over Sunscreen SPF 30 and love it. It is safe and healthy—and absorbs easily, not leaving the ghost-like whiteface that most zinc oxide based sunscreens do.

Janice Lipman: For my skin, I mix and match a few different brands that are best for maturing skin. My favorites include: Joanna Vargas Rejuvenating Serum, Naturopathica Pumpkin Purifying Enzyme Peel, REN Clean Skincare Sirtuin Phytohormone Replenishing Cream and REN Clean Skincare Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk.

I also take Be Well Alpha Lipoic Acid and add Be Well Phytogreens to my smoothie everyday.

Laura Kraber, health coach: As a fan of quick and easy facial wipes, I was happy to discover the cleansing facial wipes from Rooted Beauty, a skincare company that donates 10 – 15% of its profits to helping women in poverty around the world. With mostly organic ingredients, and conscious packaging that is designed to be kind to the earth, Rooted Beauty offers a lot for an affordable price.

Designed for people with sensitive skin, chemical sensitivities or conditions such as eczema or dermatitis, CV Skinlabs is one of our top recommendations at the Eleven Eleven Wellness Center. I love their Body Repair Lotion, which is silky smooth and rich but absorbs instantly, with no residue.

Jackie Damboragian, health coach: I love to using coconut oil as a face moisturizer and a hair mask. For the hair mask, I put a bunch in dry hair overnight and wash it out in the morning, it’s super moisturizing and gives your hair a beautiful shine.

I also use Egyptian Magic as a face moisturizer. It’s super thick but absorbs into the skin well. The combination of olive oil and nourishing elements derived from bees (such as honey and royal jelly), help to soften and maintain healthy skin.

Shea Moisture Body Moisturizer has some great shampoo and conditioner, and my favorite product is the Raw Shea Butter Body Lotion. It smells amazing and is even available in many conventional grocery stores!

Courtney Blatt, health coach: My favorite is SW Basics. I like a lot of their products but use the cream religiously. It only has 3 organic ingredients – shea butter, oilve oil and coconut oil. While it’s a little more expensive, a little bit goes a long way.  It’s super hydrating and I don’t have to worry about hidden chemicals.

Keren Day DC, certified Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) specialist: I love DermaQOL. It is certified organic and helps me keep my hands soft in-spite of washing my hands so many times through out the day. It is on the thicker side, but I need that to protect my skin from all the washing.

Pangea Organics are one of my favorite products for lip balm and hand soap. They smell and feel great.

Nourish Organic body lotions is a great product that I use. It has a nice consistency that is rich but not too thick.  It comes in a variety of natural fragrances—almond vanilla is one of my favorites.

Lavanilla is my deodorant brand of choice. It goes on smoothly and smells great. With all natural deodorants I have used, I recommend multiple applications throughout the day.

Amanda Carney, health coach: After using (and loving) coconut oil on my face for quite some time, I decided to try Lala Earth’s “Green Tea and Sea Buckthorn Repair Face Cream. Outside of its silky and moisturizing texture, I love that this cream is made with wild herbs and organic oils that heal and rejuvenate the skin, and is infused with essential oils that are calming and light.  In my opinion, it makes for the perfect nourishing night cream.

Kate Horrigan, physical therapist: My 16-year-old daughter, with very sensitive skin, has discovered Burt’s Bees acne line and has been quite pleased with the results.
She begins with the cleanser, which is derived from willow bark extract containing natural beta hydroxy acids that work to exfoliate skin and clean pores. It also contains evening primrose and beetroot extract which calm inflammation and redness. She follows the cleanser with the clarifying toner and the daily moisturizing lotion. There is a spot cream to target specific areas if needed.

Alexandra Samit, health coach: I make an effort to keep my skin regimen clean and simple, so it’s easy to do and I do it! I use a PRATIMA cleanser every morning and every evening. It’s pure and gentle and great for sensitive skin. My morning regimen includes No. 11 Anarose Rejuvenating Rose Toner by MUN Skin Care, known for its natural ingredients and restorative qualities, followed by an application of the same company’s No. 1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum to brighten and hydrate my skin. It even works on fine lines, and it goes on easily and absorbs well. Its key ingredient is prickly pear seed oil, which has been used in Morocco for ages to counter the effects of the sun. In this way I nourish my skin, as if I’m feeding it a healthy breakfast! At night, I keep it simple, too, first taking off any makeup with a simple dab of Coconut Oil from Trader Joe’s, followed by another round of cleanser, and then it’s good night!

Jenny Sansouci, health coach: I use Amazing Face face cream, it’s the best thing I’ve ever put on my face! It’s made with all natural oils and herbs, and smells great. I also spritz my face with rose water morning and night—it’s so refreshing.

Katrine Van Wyk, health coach:  I LOVE using natural oils on my skin and Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil is particularly great for promoting repair and leaves my skin even and glowing. I have avoided nasty parabens for a decade and find natural oils to be the absolute best thing for nurturing my skin.

As a new mom, RMS Un-Cover Up and Living Luminizer combination was my lifesaver. After a night of not enough sleep (most nights!) the un-cover up helped cover dark circles and even my skin tone, while the Living Luminizer added back a little glow and brightness to my face. The products are made with coconut oil, which has anti-bacterial and skin healing benefits and I love that the little jars are made of glass. Cut the plastic where you can. Shen Beauty in Brooklyn is my go-to store for all things natural make-up and skin care.

  • Would be nice to know if any of the recommendations come from middle age and older people.
