We’ve heard the same thing over and over again, but it’s just THAT important that it deserves repeating: Good health begins in the gut.

The good news: It’s not too late to add probiotics into your daily routine for optimum gut health. Probiotics are live microorganisms (or “good bacteria”) that aid your digestive processes and help your digestive organs function optimally. Having that good bacteria in your gut is desperately needed in order to properly break down the foods you eat.

You can get some good probiotics from certain foods, such as yogurt, kefir, kraut, kimchi, kombucha, miso soup, and more. You can also get probiotics through different types of supplements (in liquid, pill, and powder form).

Today I’m sharing my recipe for a holiday smoothie packed with probiotics from Dr. Lipman’s very own line. Egg Nog Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 frozen banana
3/4 cup holiday nog almond milk from Califia Farms (the ingredients are pretty clean!)
1 teaspoon maca powder (hello hormone balance and boundless energy!)
1/2 teaspoon Probiotic Powder.

Instructions:

Fill your high-speed blender with all ingredients and blend until smooth.
Top with pomegranate seeds, goji berries, and any other fun toppings of choice, if desired.
