Metabolism Boosting Smoothie Recipe

One of Frank’s core beliefs is that food is information. So feeding your body with the right foods can significantly impact both how you feel and your overall health in general.

One of the easiest starting points is a healthy breakfast, one that is loaded with good fats, protein and phytonutrients that will keep you feeling satisfied and energized all morning.

My favorite metabolism boosting smoothie recipe contains a couple of key ingredients known for their energy enhancing qualities.

Be Well Kitchen: Ginger Lime Smoothie Recipe

Spring is in the air! After a super chilly and snowy winter, this is very exciting. I do love my smoothies all year round but I tend to have them much more frequently when it starts to warm up outside. This smoothie includes the warming properties of ginger, the energizing and fat burning properties of MCT oil, and refreshing properties of lime and mango.

Be Well Kitchen: Happy Gut Green Energy Smoothie Recipe

I’m a big fan of efficiency, so I love making my smoothies as health-enhancing as possible. Lately I’ve been adding probiotic powder and MCT oil to my green smoothies — the MCT oil provides potent, sustainable energy and the probiotic powder strengthens digestive health and immunity. The chia seeds will give an extra clean sweep to the digestive system.

This smoothie’s superpowers will give you energy, satisfy your sweet craving (from the coconut water) and make your gut happy – all at once. It’s my new favorite smoothie!

From the Be Well Kitchen:
Bulletproof Coffee Recipe

I bet you never thought you’d hear someone from Dr. Lipman’s office touting the benefits of coffee, but we are constantly learning and evolving here, and Bulletproof Coffee is our latest experiment!

While our cabinets are full of tea, we do have an espresso machine at the wellness center and it gathered dust for a long time. Until one day, when a patient who had reversed his rheumatoid arthritis by following a Paleo diet told us about his new morning beverage. He described a drink that sounded quite odd: coffee + MCT oil + grass-fed butter.

Letting Go of Your Fear of Fats

For the last several decades, we have dutifully heeded the advice of doctors and health experts regarding limiting dietary fats. Compared to our parents and grandparents, our consumption of fats is dramatically lower, and dramatically different — thanks to dubious inventions such as margarine and canola oil.

Only recently has the medical establishment reversed its prohibition of saturated fats and debunked the 1950s hypothesis that saturated fat causes heart disease. But the ideas we grow up with can be hard to dislodge. Most of us have been drinking skim milk since we were kids and choosing non-fat and low-fat options wherever we find them.
