Deborah Burnes, natural beauty expert, reminds us: our bodies are great communicators, but it’s up to us to listen to the messages. They can be physical or emotional and range from obvious to subtle. Symptoms can come and go, change, or be persistent. However, once we learn what to look for, we have the power to be proactive and lessen the stress on our bodies.
Many clients that we see in our practice are worn out, run down, and confused as to why they don’t have the energy that they used to. After hearing these common complaints, we always ask them to describe their bedtime routine, including the amount of hours they get on average, the quality of their sleep (if they wake up during the night) and what time they are getting into bed.
Resolutions. So many of us make them, break them and then throw in the towel till next year rolls around. For many it’s a disheartening ritual. Frankly, I think the idea of resolutions is somewhat outdated. Instead of making big, hard, doomed-to-fail resolutions, let’s break ‘em down, call them “life tweaks,” and commence making a few little adjustments every day. Look at what’s not working or dragging your body or spirit down and then start the break up process, like ending a bad relationship. If going cold turkey works better for you, then by all means do so. No matter how you go about it, the idea is to start letting go of stuff that undermines your body or soul.
