Healthy Living - Connect

We spend a lot of time at Be Well talking about the importance of nutrition and exercise and stress relief, but maintaining connections with friends and family is as important as eating a nutrient-dense diet, moving daily, and finding time to unwind. Why? Simple. Because finding the right tribe means you have a support system in place as you make healthy life changes.

Here are some tips on how to cultivate and maintain vital connections:

  • Make relationships a priority: Seems like a no-brainer, but with all of the stressors and to-dos of modern life, it's easy to take our loved ones for granted. Make sure to make time for family and friends, no matter what is going on.
  • Tend to yourself: This may seem counterintuitive, but it's only by figuring out who you are — what inspires you, what interests you, what moves you — that you can strengthen your relationship with others.
  • Say goodbye to naysayers: If there are people in your inner circle who are not supportive of your healthy changes, find a way to talk to them and, if necessary, to say goodbye to them. The people you spend time with should nurture your growth — not hinder it.
